Drove up to the cottage on Sunday.  Road was in great shape.

Subdivision roads were clear of snow, driveways have a large snowbank still from the snowplows.

Wow, you had some large ice ridges.  We didn't have anything as big in Black's Point.

Hi all, drove out to Grindstone Wednesday Jan. 20th, road was in great condition, a few vehicles stopped along side cutting wood.  It was a great day for a visit, although very windy and cold when standing out on the lake.  We took a couple of pictures of the ice ridges, they are posted in the Landscapes section of the Photo Gallery.

SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THAT ROAD !

I have said it before and will say it again…………something has to be done about the Grindstone road starting at the park boundry inwards !

This past weekend we left on Monday, I think this is the worst I have seen it in the 3 years we have been there.  As much as we enjoy the privacey that Grindstone has to offer, I tend to sadly think how long we will stay there !

We just spend alot of money fixing a vehicle that we used to go out there in the past years, fixing things that have worn out due to driving on bad road conditions (in the city the streets aren't that great also).

I would rather pay a little more on our annual lease to have a paved road, at least from the park boundry inwards, that have our new vehicle wrecked !  We previously owned a cottage in the Rm of Alexander and trust me, you pay at least $700 per year for annual taxes for a modest bungalow cottage (if not more now) and there is no garbage disposal or recycling drop off !  We have it very lucky in Grindstone !

Is there some way they can grade that road better, possibly slope it  more?  It seems to me in the fall that road is graded VERY nicely, sloped………………..If they could do that over the summer perhaps the rain will drain off more and there won't be so many pot holes !

SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE !!!!!!!!!!

PS  There are still the inconsiderate drivers that fail to slow down very much when passing, they spray you with water and gravel !

Instead of that "Welcome to the Grindstone Community" sign, they should put up a number of "please slow down when passing" signs !http://www.grindstonepark.ca/cms/wp-content/forum-smileys/', 'Yell', '1');" src="http://www.grindstonepark.ca/cms/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-yell.gif" alt="Yell" />

We drove out tonight (Friday night before Grindstone Days) and it had rained quite extensively.  Suffice to say it was slow going and very bumpy.  We were the ones driving around 9pm with a seadoo on the back.  If we held you up we apologize, but we tried to move out of the way as much as posssible.  The roads are in rough condition but all is good, because this is Grindstone Days and we are going to have a great weekend!  The frustration of a few pot holes will quickly be over come by a glass of wine or a cold beer and then waking up to a fantastic pancake breakfast!

See you all tomorrow!

As of April 25th, Road conditions are good, one little section about 100 feet long with a bit of washboard.  No snow left except where the snow plow made a mound.  About half the driveways are clear again except for the snow plow pile.  Little to no snow left in bush.  It snowed for a bit this morning but by the time we left at 10:00 a.m. all the roads were completely clear.

Up on the roof Saturday, had a foot of snow!  Cleared half, will do the other half today.  Again, beautiful morning, sun is shiining.  A bit colder than yesterday, but it is still early!  Saw a lot of deer yesterday.  In one yard saw 5 deer grazing, amazing!   We took some pictures, when we get home, I will try to upload them to the gallery.  Did I mention I love this new website!!

We drove out very late last night, arrive around midnight, and the roads were fantastic.  Highways were clear and the gravel road was plowed and free of major pot holes.  Beautiful this morning, sunshine and -1!  We are having our morning coffee and then off for a walk!
