Hey all, we are first time cottage owners this year and Grindstone was a very good choice for us. The South Beach subdivision has welcomed us with open arms and all the neighbors we have met are awesome. Should have come here 30 years ago, we are avide outdoor lovers, boaters, ATV'ers, gardeners' and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in Grindstone. Not real crazy about the road in, BUT we will take the road if it keeps all the weekend warriors at the paved road camping sites…

The one thing in my eyes that could use some help is the total demolition of those beaver dams. After seeing the way the Grindstone road reacts to rain, the high water levels that the beavers create should be an immediate concern for all cottagers. With water being held in the retention pond it will eventually saturate the ditches and the road. Eventually erosion will overtake the road and a complete, very costly rebuild will be required. Not to mention we will have one heck of a time trying to get to our cottages once road construction begins.
I would prefer to see the beavers relocated, if possible, much further from the road. Should relocation not be feasible then the continued intervention of their handywork should be done more often, like once a week. Then they would have no choice but to pack up and leave. Of course there are always those that would refuse to go and should all previous attempts fail, it leaves but one alternative.
Let's not "Leave it to Beaver" to decide our roads future.
