Thank you cottagers for sending photos and updating us on the debris clean up etc. from the storm a couple of weeks ago.  New photos have been posted and it looks like the clean up is underway.

I was up to the lake last week.  The water is still high and a ton of debris floating in the water. Took some pics from our friends place in Black Point (The Salki's).  There are ALL KINDS of steps, decks and wood in that area.

I am from Islandview South and we were at the cottage this weekend to find that we lost 3 decks, 2 docks  9 riser steps, most of our railway tie retaining system, and many other items. It seems that the worst area hit was Islandview south and north and South beach.

Anyone that has a dock, deck, boats, paddle boats or water systems within 10 ft of the shore should check them out.The water level and waves came up 10ft from both the north one day and the south the next.  The harbor and beach are both in very bad condition.  When I checked on a few cottages in Islandview south many of the decks and docks were moved or missing.

For most of you who have closed down for the season you may not have seen the destruction from the storm last week.  Unfortunately our marina was hit pretty hard.  Thank you to Mike Buhr and Bob Johnston for taking pictures.  Photos are posted under Cottage Life 2010.

A recent email was sent as well, for all cottagers to check out their property to ensure no damage was sustained.

Thursday, October 28th, 2010…if you left "stuff" at your lakefront, you might want to come out and check things over…I have NEVER seen the water THIS high at the cabin (Black's Point) with so much floating debris! We have inherited steps up the hill onshore, and a raft and someone's dock is floating just off shore…the debris line on the grass (grass which looks like it's been combed!) is way past our fire-pit (a black patch is all that remains) up beside our bench which luckily didn't wash away! The water must be over 2 ft higher than I've EVER seen it in the past 30 yrs …with the exception of two boulders close to shore, you cannot see any of our groin. I've taken photos but don't have the USB cable to upload them, so will have to wait to do this at a later time.
